Our SEVA for OCTOBER Supports TRENTON CIRCUS SQUAD

This month our seva or selfless service focuses on TRENTON CIRCUS SQUAD:

TRENTON CIRCUS SQUAD is a 501C-3 organization that empowers low-income and at-risk teens and younger children to make a difference, in their own lives and those of others, using circus arts as a vehicle to bring diverse youth together to cooperate, challenge themselves and serve their community through performing and teaching. Here are the organizations we donated to in 2017 so far:

January 2017: CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates)

casaCASA trains and supervises volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.  

February 2017: Womanspace

Our September SEVA supports Homefront. WOMANSPACE provides a comprehensive array of services to individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence and dedicated to improving the quality of life for women and their families.

March 2017: Homefront

homefrontHOMEFRONT's mission is to end homelessness in Central New Jersey by harnessing the caring, resources and expertise of the community. HOMEFRONT seeks to lessen the immediate pain of homelessness and help families become self-sufficient by giving people the skills and opportunities to ensure adequate incomes, increasing the availability of adequate, affordable housing, and helping homeless families advocate for themselves individually and collectively.

April 2017: The Petey Greene Program

petey greene THE PETEY GREENE PROGRAM supplements education in correctional institutions by preparing volunteers, primarily college students from schools including Montclair University, Princeton University, Rider University, Rowan University, Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, Stockton University, and The College of New Jersey, to provide free, quality tutoring and related programming to support the academic achievement of incarcerated people.  

May 2017: Room to Read

ROOM TO READ promotes literacy and gender equality in education by establishing school libraries, building schools, publishing local-language children's books, training teachers on literacy education and supporting girls to complete secondary school with the life skills necessary to succeed in school and beyond.
 

June 2017: Crawford House

Our March Seva Supports Crawford House CRAWFORD HOUSE provides transitional housing and treatment to women in early recovery from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.

July 2017: Covenant House

Our JULY SEVA Supports COVENANT HOUSE

Millions of kids suffer on the the streets every day. For over 40 years, Covenant House has sheltered and cared for these young people – now standing as a powerful human rights movement for homeless and trafficked youth in 30 cities across 6 countries.

 

August 2017: URISE and IDEAS IN MOTION

kakuma soldierURISE, based in Kenya, is a refugee-run organization working to empower fellow refugees through skills training and peace education. IDEAS IN MOTION is the first Berlin based incubator program designed for refugee entrepreneurs in Germany, run by SINGA Germany.  

September 2017: The Rescue Mission of Trenton

rescue missionTHE RESCUE MISSION OF TRENTON is a 501-C(3) nonprofit organization which serves the truly needy men and women who have no place to turn for shelter, food and clothing. The Mission provides a safe, clean, warm refuge for the homeless, the hungry, the transient and the addicted.
